Build A Bear

This was a troop cookie reward. Our council had a little kink in cookies. Some of what we needed was stuff in the snow somewhere. So if the girls in out troop sold what we had on hand and 100 boxes by March 1, they got build a bear for free. I bought one for Tanni.

Tanni loves her bear and has been giving her kisses.

Maggie with her new Girl Scout bear and the one from last year.

We have lots of happy Girl Scouts.

First Day of Cookie Sales

Maggie's personal goal is 4,000 boxes. She walked two neighborhoods and her end today is 23/4000. Not too bad. Just got to see how it all ends.

I We already made our first aid kits. This week we had AMR come out and get into detail. The girls got to practice wrapping things and all that sort of thing. They also got to see inside an ambulance.

BIG Expo 2014

Our Girl Scout council has had this for the past several years. This is our first year going and my first year as a leader. We had so much fun.

Maggie rock wall climbed, rode a pony and did all sorts of other things. It was nice to see her do all sorts of things. To see her become independent and excited.
She was really excited to meet some older Girl Scouts who have her hoof bumps and called her a pegasister. Yes, she had Rainbow Dash with her.
At one point she did get a little overwhelmed, so we took her outside to have a play break. She sat by the waterfall with her daddy and played with her LPS.

The event was really nice. There way it was set up made it seem not crowded. The cookie area was really nice. We liked the outside area a lot.
We can't wait to see what they do next year and to sell cookies.

International Catholic Awareness Day

On Saturday we went to Mission San Luis Rey de Francia. It was an event put on by the Santa Margarita District (BSA). The International Catholic Awareness Award can be earned by Scouts and Scouters.
The grounds of this Mission are beautiful. The activities were far enough apart so everyone had room to learn without walking on top of one another. We learned/taught about the varying types of religious art, about the patron Saint of Scouting, did a service project, made Rosaries and learned about Catholic Scouting internationally.
It was a really beautiful experience. We have just come back to the Church, so it helped boost us up a bit. It gave our children a bit of knowledge on the Church. The kids were excited to go into the Mission and get their Rosaries blessed.
 It was an amazing morning.

Happy Scouting,
Momma

iCare Packing Party

To see Maggie at a Girl Scout function is something amazing. There is always a myriad of girls at these things. Young girls coming in private school uniforms, girls with moms who look like they are on a Real Housewives shows, girls with colored hair, girls with moms like me, girls with dads, all kinds of girls. She recognized some girls from World Thinking Day.

Today she did a thank you card for a military member and picked out two boxes of cookies for that person. We will never know who gets the card and cookies, we just hope it makes that persons days...and we hope it's a Marine.

She loves giving back. A girl after my own heart.

Pinewood Derby: Making A Car

Waylon is making his first Pinewood Derby car. We bought a precut kit from eBay. We lack the tools to make a car. He wanted this Lego type car. So we went for it. With Jimmys supervision he glued some pieces on.

He had fun trying to align them neatly. The car is currently drying and will be sanded and painted soon. He is excited to race it, and I am excited to see how he paints it.

He thinks it's already a masterpiece! How cute is he?!

Happy Scouting!
